Geocache Description:

The Little Tern is a migratory bird that has had some rough times with its nesting sites in New South Wales.

Protected brooding areas at Harrington, Manning Point, and Old Bar on the Mid-North Coast, have in recent times become havens for the Little Tern at nesting time. The cordoned-off area of the sand bar is still about a 100m away from the cache site. Between October and May you will see many (a hundred maybe) of them flying around. See how many different bird species you can see as you come into this area. You may see black swans, and many other water birds, as well as scrub birds. On the cache side of things; please make sure that four-wheel drivers don’t catch on to what you’re doing. (They can drive fairly close by to the cache site.) Please don’t bring your vehicle past the parking area – unless you have a current permit. The container is a large ‘pill’ bottle. Also, please recover the cache well and don’t leave an obvious track to it.
