Fly/Drive # 39.0 - Cottage Grove Covert Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Ace and Fly Baby: A large fence has been built blocking the access to the cache. I got out of my car to see if there was a possible spot outside the fence, but a very hostile person came out of a house nearby (behind the fence) and was yelling about geocaching, so I decided a replacement would be elsewhere and take more thought.

Geocache Description:

We have been meaning to add the Cottage Grove airport to our Fly/Drive Airport family for some time.  It is a good airport to fly to and walk to a number of nearby eateries. The right traffic and the terrain can be a little disconcerting at first, but also helps to broaden ones flying experiences.

The field was renamed after Jim Wright, a local pilot who built a replica of the hughes racer airplane and helped put Cottage Grove in the limelight.

The cache ended up in a relatively sterile area due to other caches nearby. This required the use of geo-stealth to keep it safe from roaming muggles.

Turn your geo-senses on high.  There is a really interesting old radial engine and prop west of the cache and east of the building near the tower that is worth checking out. My first choice for cache placement till I noticed it was too close to another.
