Geocache Description:

Posted coordinates are an average from two devices, and may be a small bit off. Cache is right off the trail, it should be somewhat obvious when arriving at GZ. See the hint if you need an additional pointer. Cache is a small bison tube, bring a pen. Please be careful when looking, and make sure to re-hide carefully! Park open from sunrise/sunset, so plan accordingly.

Searching out this cache will bring you along a nice trail running along the top of the Palisades, a short bit north of the GW Bridge. The Palisades have a lot of neat natural history, and hence numerous earthcaches dedicated to them and their geological roots (e.g., GCZCHA, GC2E34K). You'll also get spectacular views of the Hudson, Manhattan (e.g., the Cloisters are directly across the river), and downtown NYC off in the distance. Fall is an especially great time of the year to explore around here.

There are a couple way to access this cache. First, if you are heading north along the Palisades Parkway, there is a gas station about a third of a mile north that makes for an easy pull-off. Also, from Ft. Lee near the entrance to the GW Bridge, there is an entrance to the path that runs along the top of the Palisades heading north (finding the entrance is part of the fun). Lastly, for those in NYC, from Washington Heights simply walk across the GW Bridge (weather permitting).

Note that there are a lot of other great caches nearby. So this is a great area to explore. Just keep in mind that things can be either above or below the cliffside. So be careful and plan your route accordingly. If on foot, there is a steep stairway just off the trail south of the cache a fraction of a mile.
