Geocache Description:

27 April 2019, 09:00 - 12:00

Recently, B.A.C.O.N. (Butler Area Cachers Of Note) has joined forces with ARTA (Armstrong Rails To Trails Association) by adopting two miles of the Armstrong trail. (54 and 59) For Earth Day weekend and as part of the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful campaign, we will be joining forces with the ARTA trail volunteers to help clean up an eyesore.  The group will be addressing a dump site on the hillside between Johnston Avenue and the Armstrong Trail.

The group will meet at the posted coordinates which are at a parking area for the Cowanshannock Trail and the Armstrong Trail at 9:00 AM.  The cleanup will take place from 9:00 AM until Noon.  In cooperation with PennDOT, ARTA will be providing water, gloves, vests, and cleanup supplies, but is requesting that volunteers bring a shovel, rake, and/or broom if you have one available. The area is handicap accessible, and although the mess itself is not, there are tasks that can be performed by anyone with mobility issues.  Restrooms are available at the parking coordinates as well.

As trail volunteers, B.A.C.O.N. would like to show our solidarity by having a good turnout for this event.  ARTA has shown a big interest in what the geocaching community has to offer and we don't intend to disappoint.  For more information on this event, or future events along the trail visit...
