This cache is located on the city right of way at the end of Alberta Ave. Park at the southwest end of Alberta Ave. and head down the trail, or on Spring Ave. just down the hill from Grandin Court school and head up the trail.
The cache is dinosaur-themed. The container is a pretzel barrel. Original contents include a selection of plastic dinosaurs, some rocks containing fossils, and two travel bugs. Albertosaurus (play /æl?b?rt?'s?r?s/; meaning "Alberta lizard") is a genus of tyrannosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived in western North America during the Late Cretaceous Period, more than 70 million years ago. As a tyrannosaurid, Albertosaurus was a bipedal predator with tiny, two-fingered hands and a massive head with dozens of large, sharp teeth. It may have been at the top of the food chain in its local ecosystem. Although relatively large for a theropod, Albertosaurus was much smaller than its more famous relative Tyrannosaurus, probably weighing less than 2 metric tons. This Albertasaurus cache is named for Alberta Ave. and the snow dinosaur created by Alberta Ave. resident Mike Scott in the winter of 2009.
