The River Stinchar begins its journey close to Shalloch and enters the Firth of Clyde at Ballantrae. Close to its source, it is crossed at Stinchar Bridge by the picturesque road between Straiton and Glentrool.
There are a number of entry routes to the cache through the Galloway Forest for the adventurous. The easiest one, however, starts at the Stinchar Bridge car park. Here you will find Scotland's most picturesque picnic table - if you know better, please let me know where it is. Unfortunately, there is only one, so you may have to book.
Cross the road and follow the riverside path towards Stinchar Falls. Don't take the waymarked trail. As you approach the cache, you will have to make a decision and you will be looking for the nimblest member of the team.
