Geocache Description:

This cache is easily accessible from East Sycamore Leaf Road. Parking is available on the west side of the roadway. Only a short walk on level, fairly open ground will get you there.

This cache was placed to commemorate the grand opening of the new Corona de Tucson Fire Station #2 in the Sycamore Canyon Community. Being from a New York City Fire Department family, this cache is also being dedicated to the 343 firefighters who paid the ultimate price on 9-11, as well as all fallen firefighters.

The name, Los Bomberos, is Spanish for the firefighters.

The cache is a large coffee can that was spray painted with desert camouflage. It contains fire fighter related swag including some cool FDNY memorabilia. From the cache you are looking at the back of the new firehouse.

There is a FDNY 9-11 Maltese cross pin for the FTF. The pin shows the World Trade Centers over an American Flag background. The towers make the “11” in the date 9-11-01. All of this is over the number 343.

Good luck!

Congrats to Tucson Coyote for the FTF!

On 8/29/09 the plastic coffee can was replaced with a small ammo can.
