Movies and videos are made of still pictures. Our eyes have afterimage, so many still pictures is shown in sequence, we recognize them as moving picture.
In film age, developing movie film was very difficult art. 1 second of movie consists of 24 frames, and 1 minute film is 90ft in length; 120 minutes movie needs 2 miles (3.3km) film. Before editing handred times of film should be spent. The movie developers must keep developing such huge amount of films with constant tone & color.
The initial coords above shows one of four movie film developing company in Japan, Yokocine DIA. The company works not only for movie films, but also TV drama and CM. In the digital age (still film is utilized for picture with atmosphere) the company also shifts to digital video production. Now we can enjoy desktop movie editing easily on our PC, even the quality is not so high as professional video.

フィルム時代は、映画の現像は高度な技術でした。映画の1秒は24フレームから成っているので、1分ぶんのフィルムは90フィート (約30m)、2時間ものの映画になると3.3kmにもなります。編集前のフィルムはその数十倍、数百倍の長さになるでしょう。 映画の現像技術者は、トーンやカラーを一定に保ちつつ、膨大なフィルムを現像するのです。
上記のイニシャル座標は、日本で4つある映画フィルム現像所のうちのひとつ、ヨコシネDIAがあります。映画だけではなく、TVドラマやCMのフィルムも現像していました。 ディジタル時代になり (映画では雰囲気を出すために撮影時にフィルムが用いられていますが)、この会社もビデオプロダクション技術に移行しつつあります。 我々も簡単にPCを使ってデスクトップでビデオを編集できる時代になりましたが、まだプロフェッショナルな映画・ビデオの世界にかなう品質ではありません。
