De Navel van Limburg Multi-Cache

hatsjoe: Zoals fearene in zijn logje al schreef, gaat deze cache de archieven in. Doordat er een wandelpad dicht langs de cacheplek loopt, is het erg muggle-gevoelig geworden. De suggestie om de cache een stuk te verplaatsen hebben we overwogen, maar ook daar lopen vooral in de zomerdag veel muggles rond.

Waarom noemt men Sittard de navel van Limburg?
Toen in 1815 bij de stichting van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden een naam voor de zuidelijke provincie werd gezocht, besloot koning Willem I, dat de nieuwe provincie ‘Limburg’ zou heten. De provincie werd genoemd naar het oude hertogdom Limbourg aan de Vesdre. De hertog van Limburg had in de dertiende eeuw in het territorium van het huidige Limburg slechts enkele kleine gebieden, waaronder één stad, Sittard. Sittard is daarom de enige stad in Limburg, die vanuit historisch oogpunt met recht ‘Limburgs’ genoemd kan worden.

When, in 1815, the representatives of the Kingdom of the Netherlands were looking for a name for the new southern province, King William I decided that it should be called "Limburg". The province was named after the old dukedom Limbourg aan de Vesdre. In the 13th century, the Duke of Limburg governed only a few small areas including one town, Sittard. Sittard is therefore the only town in Limburg which, from an historical viewpoint, can really be called "Limburgs" (of Limburg).

Deze wandeling van ruim 10 kilometer leidt u niet alleen door buitengebieden maar ook door het centrum van de stad. In regenachtige perioden kunnen sommige stukken erg modderig zijn.

This walking route of 10 kilometres leads you not only through outlying areas but also through the city centre. In a rainy period some parts of the track can be very muddy.

De navel is tijdelijk niet zichtbaar wegens een groot renovatieproject (zie foto beneden). De bomen staan links en rechts voor de doorgang. Verwacht je een probleem, mail gerust en we geven de waarde HH.
