A little side trip into the woods will reward you with this very traditional cache and might make you feel like a bold adventurer. It's a true Rocky Mountain High at this very high-altitude ski resort so sit and rest awhile and enjoy the spectacular view. Keep an eye out for beetle-killed pines - it's a worsening problem thanks to climate change. In July the wildflowers are as breathtaking as the altitude. There are many recent DNFs but we just checked it and it's there as of 08/23/2015!
Breckenridge is one of Colorado's most charming ski resorts and this cache is hidden off one of its most popular runs. It's easy to get up here in summer, too, and this one won't be hard for hikers to find when it's not ski season. This is a traditional green ammo can filled with several strings of mardi gras beads to decorate trees with off the chair lift for FTF. Some stickers, too. If you come in winter you need to be at least an intermediate skiier but the trees are not too tricky here and you don't need to go too deep. You may need to clear some snow. OK, maybe a lot of snow. In Feb-April the snow will be very, very deep here. The hint really is a hint!
