Geocache Description:

You and your family are invited to the Sweet 16 annual GeoCaching Event by the Lacy Family.

This year's event is being held at Victoria Bryant State Park near Royson, GA in pioneer campground #1. This campground has a covered picnic shelter which will be used for the Saturday Potluck supper. There also is a very large campfire ring for the nightly campfires.

Because it is at a Georgia State Park you will need either a yearly park pass, or a daily pass. If you only come for the day activities you will need a one day pass. If you spend one night you will need a two day pass, if you spend both nights you will need a three day pass. The daily passes are $5 a day. You can get information on park passes here.

Create and enjoy your favorite cook out food, mixed with some GPS fun thrown in. Then spend a night or two if you want.

This event will be all day Saturday Oct 13, 2018, beginning at 10am until dark, or overnight if you like. As past attends know, the event will be held rain or shine.

All activities are optional. You can take part in just one or two or any combination or all of them. If you just want to stop by socialize for awhile that is fine.

Each person or group is asked to bring a sack lunch. If you are spending the night, don't forget to bring your coffee and donuts, for Sunday morning.

For Saturday night there will be potluck meal, each family or group is responsible for bringing their own favorite camp food and cooking skills for you or your family to enjoy. We will eat around the evening camp fire that we will have for everybody to enjoy. We will set around the fire and tell some tall tales, and maybe somebody will tell a scary story.

You should try to bring everything you need but civilization is close by. There are toilets and water in the campground, but no electricity.

Camping

If you are real gun ho outdoor people, you are invited to camp with us overnight either Friday or Saturday or both. Things to bring will include heavy bed cover because the nights in October may be cool or hot. Bring your tent and camping gear, and join the fun. But do come prepared for the weather.

There are several obvious tent pads, but the park rangers told me that tents can be put in any flat spot, plus there are trees for hammock campers. There are 2 adirondack shelters that each can sleep about 10 very friendly people. However there is no room for RVs in the pioneer campground. We are not sure how many tents in total can be placed. It depends on how close people are willing to put their tents. However if when you come there is no place for your tent you can camp in the regular campground. This also applies to people with RVs. Here is a link for information about regular camping. Then come over for the games, potluck supper and to enjoy the campfires.

Added 10/9/18 Announcement:

I talked to a Ranger Monday 10/8/18. This is what I found out.

The Victoria Bryant website says the park is open from 7 AM till Dark. But this only applies to day use of the park.

If you are camping either with us in the Pioneer Campground 1 or in the regular campground, the gate stays open to about 9 PM. After 9 PM it is closed but not locked so if you arrive after it is close just open it and drive through then close it back.

The office is open from 8 AM till 5 PM. If you don’t have a yearly park pass and arrive after 5 PM, just go ahead to either pioneer campground or regular campground. Then the next day go to the office after it opens to get your parking pass.

Ga State Park rules state

Consumption or use of alcoholic beverages or intoxicants is unlawful in any public-use area.

Notes:

We are in Pioneer Campground 1, and Pioneer Campground 2 is beside it. So we have to be considerate to them and obey the quiet time of 10 PM to 7 AM.

The last section of road to the Pioneer Campgrounds is two way but only one lane. So drive carefully as someone may be coming the other way.
