Geocache Description:

A family-friendly cache in a shady rest spot, located near the junction of several trails. This will be a welcome relief on a hot day.

This is 0.13 miles farther uphill from a similarly-named cache. When I went to look for that cache, I thought it was in this location, but it wasn't, and I had to backtrack downhill to find it. For people who know the park, they should be able to find this just from the name. This is an unusually lush spot and a nice place for a rest. If you've never been here, you'll be pleasantly surprised, especially by the contrast with the surrounding terrain. It's a unique spot that I thought deserved its own cache. I wanted to make the cache appropriate for families. I tried to make this easily accessible and relatively safe for a cache in the woods.

This is a multi-cache. The clues are actually in 2 locations. They are clues only. They are not caches in the traditional sense. Once you find the first at the listed location, it should be a no-brainer to find the second. The trees make for inconsistent GPSr readings, but the location should be obvious, considering it requires absolutely no bushwhacking. The 2 clues are the decimal minutes for the GPS coordinates. There are 4 pieces, but only 2 have numbers on them. The degrees, minutes, and which clue is latitude and which is longitude should be obvious, since the cache is within easy walking distance from the clues. (I have no clue where the location would be if you transpose the numbers, but if you end up in someone's backyard, you've got them wrong.) I got inconsistent readings at the cache location, so I put a range on the clues. Replace the clues in the same orientation that you found them. The cache itself is a quart-sized waterproof (so it says) partially-camouflaged plastic container. It is within spitting distance of the trail. It's in a fairly safe location, but there are some hazardous locations nearby. If it seems risky, you're probably looking in the wrong place. While there was no poison oak immediately near the cache, there's lots of poison oak in the vicinity, so don't let kids wander too far. Ticks shouldn't be a problem at the cache location, but watch out for spiders and other critters. Always look before you stick your hand in strange places. When you re-hide the cache, check to see that it's not visible from the trail.

Inside the cache are a logbook, pen, yoyo, small toy motorcycle, keychain, and a badge. For the first 4 finders, there are 4 CD-ROMs with digital slideshows (PC only) of Santa Teresa Park and the trail day at Almaden Quicksilver (see "Hey We Did It," GCNKWP).

This is a good staging area if you're going to go up to "Bay Area Multiple Hills-3" from here. You're going to need the rest. The quickest way to get here is from the unmarked trail entrance at the end of the driving range. If you see Tiger Woods practicing, watch out!

You can also come down here after searching for caches higher up in the park, like "Peek at Coyotes," "Let Sleeping Bears Lie," "Coyote Junction," "Hidden Frog Pond," "Boundary of Insanity," "Hidden Secrets Trail," and the OWL series (shameless plug).
