Geocache Description:

Apparently this cache has disappeared, however it is in a really cool location with some interesting history. I thought this place was a bomb shelter, then a place to grow weed, but have been informed that is an old seismograph station. If anyone has anymore info please e-mail me. Because of the cache disappearing and the fact that this place is really interesting, I have changed this to a virtual cache. Happy caching.

First off, I would not advise any who is uncomfortable going into strange places to attempt this cache. The cache is hidden inside the Town of Payson bomb shelter from the cold war days. There is no “no trespassing” signs any where near the shelter so as far as I am concerned it is fare game. You will need a flashlight and you might want to where some shoes and clothes that you wont mind getting dirty. The above coordinates are to the door of the bomb shelter.

The way that I went to the shelter was off of the Huston Mesa road, which is about a two-mile hike. I know that there are closer areas to park and get to the cache and I would advise looking for them. I would try some of the roads that branch off of hwy260.
