This cache is located in Farnham Park where there's an amazing amount of wildlife and birds around. The geocache can be found just off a main path which is popular among dog walkers and the closest parking is next to the golf-course which is 250m away. Unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible due to long grasses en route to the cache. The geocache is a clip-lock container with room for travel bugs and small items for trading. Please could you trade equally and cover the cache well after finding.
It is hidden with the kind permission of the park ranger.
In the summer you need to come prepared for stinging nettles and long grasses.
I could of chosen any bird to name this cache after, the park is a haven. Just some birds I've spotted: Jay, Jackdaw, Robin, Song Thrush, Blackbird, Starling, Blue tit, Chaffinch, Great tit, Wren, Rook, Coot (in the pond). I recommend you walk around this amazing place combining my cache with others around the park.
In the end I named it in account of the Great Spotted Woodpecker that me and gceverett35 saw from 5 metres away nearby on the gigantic dead tree. You're likely to see it on the tree because they always drum on the same trees. They peck to mark their territory in addition to looking for food, they have special shock-absorbent tissue in their head to protect themselves. Can you see it? Visit British Garden Birds or BBC for more info.
FTF goes too BigMal70 at 9.00am on 10/5/14. Well Done !!!
