Geocache Description:

What: Eclipse Viewing Party

When: Monday, 08-21-17, 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Where: Little Big Econ State Forest Pavilion, 1350 Snow Hill Rd, Geneva

If you use your favorite search engine, looking up the official meal of eclipse viewing, apparently, a beverage whose name closely resembles Are Sea Cola, and those cookie patties with marshmallow stuffing most commonly called Moonpies, are at the top of the list.  Doesn't sound very healthy, to me, but the Internet is never wrong.  I've tried both, in my youth, and I gotta say, I am not overly impressed with either of them, but maybe the flavor changes during an eclipse?

I plan on bringing an Are Sea Cola and a Moonpie to the aforementioned location, and seeing for myself.  I hope you can join me!  This is a BYOB style event, so if you want to try this concoction, you'll need to supply your own.  If you know of any other official eclipse viewing grub, feel free to bring it with you.  Since both Are Sea Colas and Moonpies are pretty yucky, I plan on bringing enough hotdogs to feed a small horde.  I will also supply buns and condiments.  My cooking skills are not exactly noteworthy, (I tend to burn everything I put on a grill), so please be gentle.

What's the occassion, you ask?

A solar eclipse will be racing across our continent this day, and should be visible around 2:40pm, or so. The next one will be here in about 2024.  If you plan on viewing it, you will need eclipse viewing goggles.  Trying to view an eclipse without them is a sure way to burn out your retinas.

Hope to see you there!

A special thanks to Joy, from the Florida Forestry Service, for providing the permit.
