Welcome to the Irishman's Road Recreation Site Letterbox Cache. This cache is not at the posted coordinates.
The Irishman's Road Recreation Site is a multi use site that sits on 172 acres of land which is owned by the Regional Municipality of West Hants. It features a great mixed forest setting with stands of red and white spruce, hemlock, yellow birch, sugar maple and American beech.
The site has an extensive series of shared use trails. The trails are primarily used for hiking, walking, running, mountain biking, archery and horseback riding. Also located on the site are the Ryan Lahey Memorial Soccer Fields and part of the land is leased by the Glooscap Heritage Archers Association. Karst topography (i.e. sinkholes formed by soluble gypsum) is visible in the north and west portions of the park.
The two main trails are The Glooscap Heritage Loop and the Interpretive Trail. They are both approximately 1.5 km with a number of well marked additional trails that branch off the main paths. The Glooscap Heritage Loop is used by the local archery club as an outdoor shooting course, with events held a few times a year. The trails are closed during the archery events.
The park sits on land formerly used as a municipal landfill, which was closed in 1983 and decommissioned in 1984.
Permission for the placement of this cache has been granted by the West Hants Regional Municipality.

From the posted coordinates head along the trail and search for this tree.
Continue 55 m down the trail and past the sharp turn.
Stay on the trail and watch your compass until the bearing reads 320 degrees (NW).
Head 8m in that direction to your final destination.
