QUICK STOP AND PICK, WATCH FOR TRUCK TRAFFIC.
Argenta, Nv was established in 1866, it was a shipping point for the Austin mines and resident had high hopes of being a railroad shipping center for Lander County. However nearby Battle Mtn which was not closer to Austin but closer to Galena Mines was chosen, and Argenta fate was sealed and by Dec 1870 everything moved to Battle Mtn. Everything was moved including buildings. Argenta was a ghost town without the town. 1930 barite was discovvered and is still mined today. So watch for large haul truck that come by occasionally. Fast easy cache, but stop and view the scenier, Nevada is beautiful if you look past the interstate. "GOD BLESS AMERICA"
