Söderslättsgymnasiets huvudbyggnad, den sk A-byggnaden, invigdes i november 1909. Arkitekt var Alfred Lindgren från Malmö och byggmästare Rudolf Helgesson. En omfattande brand bröt ut den 13 augusti 1961 i skolans äldre del där bl.a. hela vindsvåningen brann upp. Detta resulterade till en avsevärd om- och tillbyggnad av denna skolbyggnad de efterföljande åren.
Den äldsta byggnaden på skolområdet är det sk fattighuset som troligen byggdes de sista åren på 1800-talet, och som använts av gymnasiet sedan 1946. Det fd fattighuset återfinns i sydvästra hörnet på skolgården. Det sägs att tiggarna och lösdrivarna spökar där….
Springvattnet utanför byggnaden i nordost, där matsalen finns, är signerad Erik Höglund och införskaffades av kommunen i samband med huset byggdes i mitten av 60-talet. Fons Fori Scholae heter verket från 1967. Erik Höglund har även gjort statyn Cyklister från1956 som idag återfinns utanför gamla gymnastiksalen som ligger utmed Valldammsgatan.

The schools, Söderslättsgymnasiet, main building also known as the A-building, was inaugurated in November 1909. The architect was Alfred Lindgren, Malmö and the builder was Rudolf Helgesson. A major fire broke out on August 13, 1961 in the school's older section, where the attic was burned down. This resulted in a significant refurbishment and extension of the school building the following years.
The oldest building on campus is the house where the poor people used to live. It is probably built in the last years in the 1800s, and is used by the school since 1946. The house is to be found in the southwest corner of the schoolyard. It is told that the beggars and vagrants still haunt here ....
The springwater outside the building in the northeast, where the students eat, was made by Erik Höglund and was purchased by the municipality when the house was built in the mid 1960's. Fons Fori Scholae is the name and it was made in 1967. Erik Höglund has also made the statue Cyclists from 1956 which currently is found outside the old gym, which is located along Valldammsgatan in the west of the schoolyard.
