Geocache Description:

This cache is one of a series of three set on a beautiful, quiet one kilometre stretch of road near Brynsiencyn that runs alongside the Menai Straits.  This is one of ‘Newton Grandad’s’ favourite diversions when cycling out on Anglesey.

‘The Mermaid’ and ‘Mermaids Rock’ caches involve a short walk down the rocky shoreline (part of the Anglesey Coastal Path) at both ends of the road.  ‘The Mermaids Pool’ can be reached from the road.

There is ample parking on the very quiet road but just be cautious of the traffic from Anglesey Sea Zoo and Foel Farm Park.

The Mermaid Inn used to be at the western end of this stretch of road but is now converted to holiday lets.  Adjacent to the Mermaid there was a ferry crossing point at Tal y Foel many years ago across to Caernarfon.

Best visited on a clear day, the views across the Straits towards the Snowdon range and Caernarfon town and castle are spectacular.

Also you may like to pause and take time to read the moving little epitaph by the newly erected memorial bench on the front and on the way back spoil yourself with a cream tea at a local farm about half a mile up the road.

PLEASE REPLACE AND COVER THIS CACHE CAREFULLY.  ENSURE IT IS HIDDEN!

Small clip-lock box in a camo bag, big enough for small swaps.  Please bring a pen.  A FTF badge is with the log book.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ECOBAKE ON FTF and 1600th CACHE FIND!
