Sussex 2020 Mega Coastal Cache
One of a series of coastal caches to recognise the Sussex Mega 2020 campaign
Many of the things associated with a trip to the British seaside have their roots in the Victorian summer holiday. During the summer months, the upper classes flocked to the seaside to ‘take to the waters’. The Victorians realised how good some fresh air and exercise were for the constitution. One fo their favourite indulgences was the chance to show off their attire, and so promenading came about. Long and level, proms or esplanades were built, where you could be seen by society and become the recipient of admiring glances.
Of course, we British still do like to be beside the seaside. The promenade is still a mecca for young and old who like a gentle, unhurried walk. So, for the chance to sample the good old days, you are invited walk in the footsteps of the Victorians, but to indulge of course, in an altogether more modern pastime.
This is one of a series of caches that follow the coastline between Goring by sea and Shoreham by sea. For the most part the terrain is excellent. They are available at all times and have all been set with the intention of being found quickly and easily. Unlike the Victorians of course, our aim is not to be seen.
You can start and finish wherever you want and you can do as few or as many as you like. There are many car parks and places to park along the way, however, free parking is available either end of the linear. Of course along the way there are plenty of places to stop for drinks, food, or calls of nature.
Please bring your own pen and take care in returning caches to their hiding places.
