The Paradise Drift Wells date back to 1930, when they were the only supply of water to Tamworth. In the mid 1950's, Dungowan Dam & pipeline were bought into service. They were decommission in 1980 when Chaffey Dam & the Calala Water Treatment plant were commissioned.
In 2007 there were discussions to bring them back on line to supplement water supply in times of severe drought.
This cache is located near the Peel River that was discovered by John Oxley in 1818 & named by him in honour of Sir Robert Peel , an important British Politican of the time.
