Qualiflyer: Leider wurde auf die letzte Reviewer-Note bislang nicht geantwortet. Daher archiviere ich das Listing, damit es nicht mehr auf den Suchlisten auftaucht bzw. neue Caches blockiert.

Keine Sorge, das Listing ist nicht endgültig verloren: falls du den Cache innerhalb der nächsten drei Monate reparieren oder ersetzen möchtest, schreibe mir bitte eine E-Mail (GC-Nummer nicht vergessen!), und sofern der Cache den aktuellen Guidelines entspricht, und die Location immer noch frei ist, hole ich ihn gerne wieder aus dem Archiv.

Als ich das erste Mal in diese Gegend kam, war die Straßenbahnremise – bekannt auch als Betriebsbahnhof Währing – noch voll in Betrieb. Wenige Jahre danach schon war klar, dass mit Jahresende die letzte Straßenbahn hier einfahren würde. Bald wurden Plakatwände aufgestellt und das zukünftige Schicksal dieser immerhin seit 1883 existierenden Remise war, zumindest für Außenstehende wie mich, ungewiss. Obwohl denkmalgeschützt, wurde in den Hallen gearbeitet, außen wuchsen schnell Pfeiler, Mauern in die Luft: Ein Supermarkt und eine Wohnanlage wurden gebaut. Das neue Gebäude verdeckte und versteckte die alte Remise. Doch wenn man von der richtigen Richtung aus hinsieht, erkennt man, dass diese Anlage eine Hommage an die ursprüngliche Verwendung dieses Ortes ist: Nähert man sich aus nordwestlicher Richtung, kann man die Silhouetten von Straßenbahnwaggons ausmachen.
Dies ist ein versöhnlicher Cache, kein Lost Place sondern ein Ort der Gegenwart, des Lebens, der zeigen soll, dass Altes zu ändern nicht immer schlecht sein muss.

When I first got to know this place, the original tram depot was still in use. After a few years the last tram pulled in. Billboards were installed and nobody could suspect the future destiny of this place, which had been in existence since 1883. The depot is landmarked – but inside the building there was work going on, on the outside pillars and walls grew: a supermarket and a condominium were built. This all would conceal the old depot. But if looked at from the right angle you will see there still is a tram depot here. Approach from the northwest and you can recognize the outlines of tram wagons.
This cache is not a lost place. It is quite the contrary: a place of the present, a place of life. Changing things does not necessarily mean to make them worse.
