Geocache Description:

Come watch the first Total Solar Eclipse to occur in these parts since 1979.

On Monday August 21st, 2017 at approximately 1:30 PM CST North America will experience the first total solar eclipse since 1979. Since I was born in 1981 I have never experienced such an event and it will be a long time before it occurs again so you don't want to miss this experience.

We will meet in the center of the field at Snow Hinton Park at 1:00 PM.

Tuscaloosa will experience nearly complete (>.9 magnitude) eclipse at 1:30 PM and this will last for approximately two minutes and thirty seconds. This is when you really want to be here.

The event will run from 1-2 PM, although people will likely come and go over a window of time I suspect, as the eclipse will last for several hours. We will have a little meet and greet, chat, exchange TBs and such if needed then watch the show. Please bring sunglasses and viewing boxes if you desire. I will add more info as we get closer, such as long range weather forecasts. PRAY FOR A SUNNY DAY!

Imporant eye safety info from NASA for viewing the eclipse can be found here: https://www.nasa.gov/content/eye-safety-during-a-total-solar-eclipse
