Geocache Description:

Another decon in the woods.

This area of the woods reminded me of the Ents from the Lord of the Rings. Lots of cool looking trees in the area.

The cache is located just of a trail in the Starkey Wilderness Preserve — Serenova Tract. The entrance to the property is located in central Pasco County off SR 52 just west of Suncoast Parkway across from Hayes Road and the new Publix. The entrance is on south side of road. The property is open daily, sunrise to sunset. There are portable toilets and non-potable water source available in equestrian camping area. You should plan on bringing all of the water you need for an all day hike, than pack a little more.

There are many shared-use trails available and they may be wet or impassable in some sections after heavy rains. This tract consists of 6,500 acres and the prominent natural communities include pine flatwoods, cypress domes, freshwater marshes, stream and lake swamps, sandhill and scrub. There is a good chance to see a lot of wildlife.

The cache was placed in January so bugs weren't a problem; but when caching away from the super store parking lots it's always smart to bring some Deet and sun screen.
