Cache Description: This is the first official physical cache located in Cloudland Canyon State Park. The ammo can is in the canyon below the second falls along the “Sittons Gulch” trail. You will need time (took us two hours at a leisurely stroll) and your camera! The elevation change is about 580 ft. and the hike is about two miles round trip. Please remember to "leave no trace.""
Please stop at visitor’s center and pick up a park trail map, it will come in handy! Next, go and park near the Interpretive Center, don’t forget there is a parking fee.
Now head west along the rim to the "waterfalls” trail which is behind the cabins. This is the only tricky part. Make a right turn to the stairs, and find the Trailhead listed in the additional waypoints.
Next you will need to go down the stairs towards the "second falls". When you get to the second falls you will pick up the "Sittons Gulch" trail.
The cache is at the junction of two creeks a short ways below the falls. Since canyon walls do strange things to GPSr's we took plenty of readings. You should be close but let your unit settle in as you get close. The hint is a real spoiler.
The weather is always a factor in the canyons. Please be prepared for the season in which you are hunting and take plenty of water. You may want to bring your camera as the scenery is incredible. Please re-hide the cache like or better than you found it.
This cache is also a part of the "Canyon Climbers Club”. More information is available in the visitor’s center and located here. (http://www.gastateparks.org/core/item/page.aspx?s=143807.0.1.5)
