The piece of land this cache is located on is called Shell Island.
Shell Island is no longer an Island. The East pass has once again
closed. A marine biologist told me that this would probably happen.
She said that with two openings to the Gulf this near to each other
there was not enough water flow to keep them both open and the East
or Old Pass lost out.
The cache is located on the Shell Island State Park and has no
restrictions on travel. Near the cache is a group of palm trees.
Some of these palm trees are tall stumps. The cache is buried
approximately 3 feet North of a palm tree stump. This stump is
three to four feet high and is the farthest North of all the palms
in this group. Since some people have had difficulty finding this
cache I have added pictures of the cache site.
The cache is contained in a buried five gallon bucket. Advice,
wear sunscreen and watch for snakes. Bill
