This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

A geocaching couple (dalahod) from Orange County California is bringing their mother, Daisy, up to visit Cambria on Leap Day 2016 to celebrate Daisy's 90th birthday! They reached out to me to see if I could create a cache for the occasion. I was honored to be asked, so I set out to find a GZ fitting enough for a lovey mom who has likely seen much beauty in her years. It's my hopes that this specific location will be at the top of her list of most beautiful places she has ever seen.

Welcome to Cambria and the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve (or West Ranch, as us locals refer to it). This gorgeous 430-acre span of open space holds all the best our little burg has to offer. Enjoy your stroll along the Bluff Trail here, a tiny section of the future California Coastal Trail. Started in 1972, the CCT is now more than halfway complete. When completed the CCT will extend 1,200 miles from Oregon to Mexico. As you make your way to the hide, take in views of one of the largest remaining Monterey pine forests and the breathtaking Pacific Ocean. These majestic protected waters are the southernmost section of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

This geocache was born of dalahod's request and placed initially for the Hodson family's visit in March 2016. But as this cache (like Daisy) stands the test of time, I'm sure it will bring years of enjoyment to geocachers from all around the world who come to visit the Central Coast and who are fortunate enough to pay their own visit to the Pines by the Sea. So come on out, get your smiley and while you're here... wish Daisy a happy birthday!
