Göteborgs stad

När du kommer in i Mariakyrkan ser du likheten med Domkyrkan. Det beror på att C. W. Carlberg var arkitekt vid båda kyrkornas uppbyggnad. Invigningssår för båda är 1815. Då hette Mariakyrkan Fattighuskyrkan och var kyrka för dem som bodde i Göteborgs Fattighus, det stora, röda huset som ligger intill kyrkan. Mariakyrkan ligger utmed Fattighusån, mittemot nya Ullevi. Idag fungerar Mariakyrkan som församlingskyrka i Domkyrkoförsamlingen och gamla Fattighuset, som idag heter Mariagården, är ett hus med kyrkliga institutioner, en del är församlingshem i Domkyrkoförsamlingen med t.ex. öppen förskola.

Denna kyrka har ingen kyrkogård och inte någon kyrkomur. Ta med dig en egen penna. Tidigare hette denna geocache "KV #14 - Mariakyrkan".
When you enter Mariakyrkan you can see the resemblance with Domkyrkan. The is because C. W. Carkberg was the Architect during the building of both of those churches. The year was for both of them in 1815. Then Mariakyrkan was named Fattighuskyrkan and was the church for those in Gothenburg poorhouse, the large red house that resides besides the church. Mariakyran is placed alongside Fattighusån, across nya Ullevi. Today the Mariakyrkan is a congregation church in Domkyrkoförsamlingen and the old Fattighuset, that is today named Mariagården, is a house with church institutions, a part of the parish house in Domkyrkoförsamlingen with for example open daycare.

This church has no cemetery and no church wall. Bring your own pen. This geocache was previously namned "KV #14 - Mariakyrkan".
