Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are for where to PARK.

The Cache is a small waterproof "Witz" container that is just large enough to hold a usable log book and a pencil.

It is completely concealed in a better than average hiding spot 50 feet from a point along the trail.

To obtain the final coordinates, you must decode the ENIGMA message below:

Good luck!

Below is an Enigma message

Decode it using the three-rotor Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe "unsteckered" Enigma Machine with the wide B reflector installed, wheel order I, II III, Initial position of the rotors "MMN" and a default Ringstellung of "01 01 01".

Note: The Enigma machines of WW2 would never have been set up so simple and the messages would have employed an "indicator" scheme at the beginning of the code (not done here) .

Whats that? You don't have access to an Enigma Machine?
Well, good news! A clever guy named Michael Koss has made it possible for you to *print* a fully functional Paper Enigma Machine that works perfect for this message. There is a Youtube video that explains how to make and use the paper enigma machine.

Where are the numbers?
Since enigma machines were designed to encode/decode letters only, numbers would have to be spelled out...

In an effort to not abuse your limited free time, I condensed the numbers with the following familiar cypher (rather than spelling them out) so, after you decrypt the enigma message apply this cypher to get the numeric coordinates.

The coordinates are formatted
DD MM.MMM DDD MM.MMM
The decimal points and spaces in the coordinates are assumed and not part of the code.

If the example found at the bottom of the instructions makes your head spin, click here for some hints that reveal the rotor settings procedure. These hints are only needed if you have trouble decoding the the example message found at the bottom of the instructions on your own.

Spiders and scorpions often make their homes under debris that hide a cache so examine things carefully and/or use gloves
