Geocache Description:

The Cold Case - Mr. Muggle Series (CCMM) is based on the game of CLUE with a Geocaching spin!  It is rumored that Mr. Muggle was kidnapped by a geocacher and is locked away at some remote location. Put on your detective hat and solve The Disappearance of Mr. Muggle. Your first clue is a freebie...Mr. Muggle is not at the posted coordinates!

Cold Case # GC3DCA6:

The Disappearance of Mr. Muggle

Cold Case Synopsis:

Mr. Muggle:  Insofar as geocaching is concerned, Mr. Muggle always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He hindered many geocachers as he threw them puzzled looks while they were searching for geocaches. He even thwarted an occasional FTF due to his appearance at the most inopportune time! Then one day, he just disappeared. Although many in the geocaching community applauded his disappearance, the sport of geocaching started to become much too easy. Stealth was no longer a factor in finding caches. Mr. Muggle needed to be found to restore stealth and order back to geocaching.

Neither the FBI, CIA, or Scotland Yard could locate him.  Eventually the evidence trail grew cold and his disappearance became just another unsolved case.

Cold Case Evidence:

But where is Mr. Muggle?  Who better to find something that is hidden than a Geocacher?  This Cold Case has been re-opened for the best geocachers in the world to review the trail of evidence in an attempt to find the location of Mr. Muggle.  It will require checking suspect alibis, forensic testing of geocaching tools, and revisiting all of the possible muggle crime scenes.  As Sir Arthur Conan Doyle pointed out, “when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”

Suspects:

  • Furious Shepherd: Why so "furious", Mr. Shepherd, hmmm?

  • geojo1: The "McGyver" of geocaching: if you need a geocaching tool, she has it!

  • horselady9:  Lots of found caches = Lots of Muggle sightings!

  • kathleenjo: Strategic puzzle mastermind:  capable of pulling off this caper!

  • Killer Bee: With a name like "Killer Bee", you must be a suspect!

  • Trekker67: You would never suspect the CO . . . or would you?

Geocaching Tools:

  • Flashlight:  Blinded by the light...

  • Hiking Stick: Could be the ultimate caching weapon!

  • Lanyard:  Look, a mini whip!

  • Magnetic Retrieval Tool:  Talk about a concealed weapon!

  • Pen:  It is said the pen is mightier than the sword!

  • Tweezers:   In the right hands, tweezers can hurt!

Muggle Crime Scenes:

  • Bridge: Look suspicious on a bridge, and someone might just call 911.

  • Cemetery: The dead don’t muggle, but beware of mourners!

  • Guard Rail: Unless you are a Guard Rail Inspector, drivers tend to notice you.

  • Lamp Post: Lamp Post Inspector is right up there with Guard Rail Inspector!

  • Park: Lots of kids means lots of prying eyes!

  • Parking Lot: Smile, you are on Security Candid Camera!

  • SGL: Hunting season equals Muggles with guns!

  • Sign Post: Sign Post Inspector now?

  • Trail Head: Beware of hikers!

To solve this puzzle:

  • Process of Elimination:  Visit all 18 Cold Case Evidence Lockers (see Bookmark Listing) and eliminate 18 of the 21 pieces of evidence listed above. Print out the Detective Notebook page to assist you in keeping track of the evidence.

  • Solve for Gound Zero Coordinates:  Collect numbers from each of the 18 Cold Case Evidence caches (Note - none of the numbers are greater than 200).  Add numbers found from Suspects and Geocaching Tools to the North Coordinates listed above.  Add numbers found from the Muggle Crime Scenes to the West Coordinates listed above. (Note - The geochecker below also contains additional information)

  • Free Mr. Muggle:  Use the three remaining pieces of evidence to set Mr. Muggle free.  This will make more sense when you are at ground zero. Don't forget your Detective Notebook.

Good Luck...

Congratulations to the super sleuthing Zooming Boomers for a well earned FTF!
