2 stage multi-cache is located at the newly acquired Carnwath Farms off of Wheeler Hill Road in the town of Wappingers Falls. The trail has just opened for use. Both stages are in close proximity of each other and are off of the mowed trail slightly. When walking from Stage 1 to Stage 2 stay on the mowed trail up the hill.
First stage is a camo painted waterproof match container. It contains only the coordinates to the final stage.
Second stage is a small to regular sized lock n lock container that is painted with brown, green, and black camo paint. It is large enough to hold a few TB's (depending on size), some small trade items, a log book, pencil, and pen.
At both stages, the caches are well off of the ground. I will adjust the difficulty rating if need be. Children will not be able to reach the containers that are located at either of the stages.
Carnwath Farms has very nice views of the Hudson River and is a very peaceful place. Although the terrain is mostly grass and mulch, there is a moderately steep hill to walk up that leads to both stages.
Please also check out the Dutchess County Sports Museum while your'e there. It is right next to the parking lot.
Please place the cache's back in their original positions and close all lids/tops tightly. I welcome all feedback. Sometimes it's hard when it's "your" cache to know if something is too difficult, too easy, etc. So, please don't be afraid to tell me what you think so that I could make adjustments or tweak things. Your thoughts/suggestions will help the next person enjoy their hunt even more. Thank you and have fun!
In 2004, County Executive Steinhaus noted, “This is a notable achievement for the Town of Wappinger and Dutchess County. Through our partnership, a historic and scenic property overlooking the Hudson River and part of the Hudson River Valley Greenway, the residents of Dutchess County will be able to enjoy one of the most spectacular river views in the area. This once-private land, previously owned by the Greystone Program Inc., will now serve as a public park for passive recreational use. The 99.6-acre property, with extensive rolling fields, Hudson River views and historic buildings, will also secure a key segment of the Greenway Trail System".
