The Brevard County Veterans Cemetery will celebrate it's 40th anniversary on November 10, 2018. A little-known and forgetten piece of history in Titusville, is no longer receiving veterans remains since the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery opened in Scottsmoor in January 2016. There are 127 veterans buried in the Titusville cemetery.
A group called Friends of the Cemetery has been raising money and conducting work projects to refurbish and repair much of the property. They are planning an anniversary celebration as part of their annual Veterans Day ceremonies on November 11th.
On October 27th, they are holding a "rake down day" from 9:30 to noon. The event will include raking, weeding and pruning plants and flowers. They say lunch will be provided, but if we show up in mass, we could always grab something elsewhere.
This is a great opportunity for SCGA to give back to the community and, for those of us who don't get to the north end of the county often, a chance to grab some smileys.
Bring rakes, gloves, pruners if you have them.
