Geocache Description:

A Simple Letterbox Cache

When was the last time you received a letter? Not a bill, or a statement, or something junkified headed straight for the recycling bin ..... but a proper letter? Something handwritten from a friend, or a family member, that was them wanting to share news, or ask after you, or just say "Hi" because you've not spoken for a while?

Personally speaking, I pretty much LIVE inside this fully-connected digital world that exists today. I have a Twitter account, I use Facebook, and Google+. I still use IRC now and again, and I play a game with others on the internet, chatting to them via my keyboard or by voice. I have a few e-mail addresses (have forgotten more!), and two mobiles that routinely get hammered with texts/e-mails from colleagues, friends and family.....

It's all really easy, and super-fast, to stay in touch with people using all these methods, and that's great. Really great! I wouldn't change the pace of changing communications for anything. But you know what's really cool?

Getting a letter :)

Knowing that someone has taken time out to put pen to paper, not even crunched out a letter on their word processor, but used time and effort in writing long-hand to me, even if it's something as short as a postcard, touches me.

So, continuing the theme of the locally 'mixed up' cache types, here's my Letterbox cache. A traditional cache, located near Penenden Heath, that's gonna hopefully get people writing to folks, and spreading some groovy postal vibes.

Inside the geocache, are pens, pencils, some notelets, a couple of postcards, even some stamps... Please feel free to make as much, or as little, use of these things as you need to, to drop someone a quick note to say 'Hi, was just thinking of you while out Geocaching'. If you've decided to do it, then let me know in the Found Log who you wrote to, and why. But only if you want to. :)

If you need to use it, there is a Pillar Box located at N51 17.301 E000 32.147

If there's no stamps available, and you can't put a stamp on it yourself, leave your item in the plastic envelope marked OUTGOING, and I'll post it for you. Or if you just wanna write to me, the Cache Owner, then you can leave that in the Outgoing envelope too.

There is of course, a Log Book inside the cache container, and mailing a letter to someone is NOT an additional logging requirement; there is no need for you to do that to claim this smiley. But, if you do write to someone because of this geocache, then that's kinda cool - and thanks for entering into the spirit of it.
