Stalida (Greek: Σταλίδα, older form Stalis) is a village that lies between Malia and Hersonissos on the north coast of Crete, Greece. It is a lively resort, with over 6km of golden beach, attracting tourists from many European countries. It has a long, sandy beach and a variety of bars and tavernas. Popular with families, it is 30 km from Nikos Kazantsakis airport in Heraklion
Quieter than the neighbouring resorts of Malia and Hersonissos, Stalis has a more relaxed atmosphere and still has a wide array of bars and restaurants. The resort is popular with a mix of nationalities.
The cache is placed where there is a lovely view over the Sea of Crete, which is the sea south of the Aegean Sea, north of the island Crete, and south of the Cyclades. The sea also stretches from Kythera east to the Dodecanese islands of Karpathos and Kassos. The bounding seas to the west are the Ionian Sea as well as the rest of the Mediterranean Sea.
the Byzantine church of Agios Loannis: This small church is mentioned on seventeenth-century Venetian maps when there was hardly anything at all in Stalis. You’ll find it by walking along the main (coastal) road of Stalis.
Almost all the inhabitants of Stalis come from Mohos, which is high on the mountain behind and south of the resort. Take the Bulgarian Path (so called because it was built by Bugarian prisoners of war during WW1) up the mountainside and take in the stunning views of the Sea of Crete, Stalis and Malia
The cache is a small snap lock box big enough to place travel bugs and toys.
Be careful as there are lots of muggles in nearby restaurants so have a sit on the wall and enjoy the view.
Congratulations for FTF to Möja4.
