Do not forget this is CST!!! And that the fall daylight saving time just happened this morning at 2:00 AM.
The film reel will be approximately an hour long with contest finalists from the Worldwide Geocachers of Groundspeak. The film showings will be at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. These are 1-4 minutes each with some of the best examples of geocaching fun from the United States and our International brothers and sisters. Come vote for your favorite film!
There will be a kids area as well for them to enjoy.
No food is allowed in the building but we will give you something to go! Will it be savory or sweet? Or will it be a delightful blend? You will have to come and see!
The auditorium can accommodate up to a hundred people and we are expecting that it could fill up so we are having two showings. If you know you will be here please post a "will attend" so we can have more of an idea of how many people to expect. 2016 is the National Lakeshore’s 50th anniversary; the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary; the State of Indiana's 200th anniversary; the Indiana’s state park's 100th anniversary; the Indiana Dunes Tourism's 30th anniversary and the Porter County Museum celebrates 100 years this year! You can get there early, reserve a spot and go check out the park and its many geocaches. Bike rentals will be available also if you would like to check out the park that way.
This is what you can expect when you visit the visitors center:
Helpful advice from Michiana Geocachers as to the best Geocaches in Northwest Indiana and neighboring Southwest Michigan to visit.
An exhibit hall featuring Indiana Dunes artwork from the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Artist-in-Residence program, wildlife displays and interactive displays for children.
We will be giving you raffle tickets for drawings after each hour long show. We have a lot of good looking prizes so you will not want to miss this.
