Geocache Description:

12:30-1:30 PM NEAR THE BEAN

Don’t wear your cozzie or your budgie smugglers to this event, because it’s going to be way too cold.  Don’t expect traditional Australia Day fun like Sydney Harbour ferry races, because Lake Michigan will be way too icy.  No barbie will be present, so don’t bring your prawns to throw on it.  (No Australian ever says "shrimp.") We probably could get some Vegemite, but really, Americans don’t know how to eat it, so why bother.

Still, this will be a fair dinkum Australia Day event, even though the length may depend on how long your host can stand being out in subzero (Celsius—hey, it’s Australia) weather.  Show up at the posted start time and we’ll have a meet and greet and a few laughs.  If your host can find them she’ll bring some Tim Tams; if you BYO coffee, you can partake of a Tim Tam Slam.  We probably won’t sing Waltzing Matilda, but that’s not the National Anthem anyway.

Your host actually was an American ex-pat in Australia from 2009 through 2013, so she can explain Aussie slang if you like, and tell you why you should never root for any sports teams. If you’re going to Oz anytime soon to cache, well, you might get some good tips here too.

Oh yeah, did I say there’s a souvenir to be had?  See you there!
