O miejscu:

W Polsce wszystkie gatunki płazów objęte są całkowitą ochroną prawną na mocy Rozporządzenia Ministra Środowiska z dnia 26.09.2001 r. W dolinie Biebrzy występuje 12 gatunków płazów: traszka grzebieniasta Triturus cristatus, traszka zwyczajna Triturus vulgaris, kumak nizinny Bombina bombina, grzebiuszka ziemna Pelobates fuscus, ropucha szara Bufo bufo, ropucha zielona Bufo viridis, ropucha paskówka Bufo calamita, rzekotka drzewna Hyla arborea, żaba jeziorkowa Rana lessonae, żaba śmieszka Rana ridibumda, żaba trawna Rana temporaria, żaba moczarowa Rana arvalis oraz jeden mieszaniec międzygatunkowy - żaba wodna Rana esculenta.
Drogi stanowią szczególne zagrożenie dla płazów Biebrzańskiego Parku Narodowego, które podczas złożonego cyklu życiowego odbywają coroczne migracje między środowiskami, w których rozmnażają się, żerują i hibernują. Na wiosnę (marzec-maj) na drogach giną starsze generacje płazów zmierzające do miejsc rozrodu, natomiast późnym latem i jesienią (wrzesień-październik) ruch drogowy zmniejsza liczebność wszystkich grup wiekowych udających się na zimowiska.

In Poland, all amphibian species are covered by full legal protection under the Regulation of the Minister of Environment. There are 12 amphibian species in the Biebrza Valley: crested newt Triturus cristatus, Triturus vulgaris newt, fire-bellied toad Bombina bombina, spadefoot Pelobates fuscus, toad Bufo bufo, toad Bufo viridis, green toad Bufo calamita, tree frog Hyla arborea, Rana lessonae frog, the frog Rana ridibumda Gull, Common Frog Rana temporaria, moor frog Rana arvalis and one hybrid - frog Rana esculenta.
Roads pose a particular threat to amphibians in Biebrzański National Park, which during the complex life cycle take yearly migrations between environments where they breed, feed and hibernate. In the spring (March-May) older generations of the amphibians are killed on the road when travel to their breeding sites, while in late summer and autumn (September-October) traffic reduces the number of all age groups when they are going on the wintering grounds.
