Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America
requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21
required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project
that—on average—requires 167 service hours. In 2008
alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the
national volunteer hour value of $19.51/hr).
The photo shows the entrance to the Dog Park where an Eagle
Scout Project was done in 2009 by an Eagle Scout from Troop 859 in
the Palisades District of the Blue Grass Council of Kentucky. Troop
859 is chartered by Trinity Hill United Methodist Church. The Eagle
Scout Project was the installation or planting of trees for the
dogs at the Coldstream Park Dog Park. Troop 859 was founded on
August 30, 2007, and already has four Eagle scouts to its credit.
Visit the troop website at bsatroop859.com for more
info.
The cache location is somewhere in this dog park. It is
camoflauged and is large enough to contain trade items and travel
bugs, besides the log. The cache is starting out with a few trade
items, and a prize for the FTF (in the bag with the log). If you
take something out, please replace it with something of equal or
greater value.
