Geocache Description:

The cities of Georgetown, Sadieville and the Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission are pleased to announce the opening of the Scott County Geotrot!

The Scott County Geotrot has geocaches for everyone regardless of your skill level in geocaching. It is an exciting event to draw attention to the rich history of the Georgetown/Scott County area. This event is sponsored by the Georgetown Scott County Tourism Commission.

The Scott County Geotrot consists of 12 geocaches located in Georgetown and surrounding Scott County. Each registered individual will receive a passport at the event detailing the coordinates and significant history of each of the 12 sites. At each site you will need to locate the geocache container than contains a custom stamp to show that you have visited there. Stamp the corresponding block for each geocache location. Upon completion of all 12 geocaches located along the Scott County Geotrot, bring your completed passport back to the event area and you will receive some really nice items like a stuffed horse and horseshoe.

Please note that we only have a certain amount of items so be sure to arrive at the start to begin the trail at the opening time. Due to the limited quantity of items please allow only one item per family or individual geocacher.

This is a FREE event and is open to anyone interested in learning about the history of Georgetown and surrounding Scott County. There will be free water and snacks available for participants. You can pick up your passport at the event location. You will also need to sign a liability waiver prior to beginning the Scott County Geotrot.

Our event will be held in Royal Springs Park, the heart of historic Georgetown where Kentucky bourbon whiskey was first produced by Reverend Elijah Craig in 1789. Participants will be able to view the authentic 1874 log cabin built by former slave Milton Leach.

There will also be a flash mob at Great Crossing on Sunday, August 13th to coincide with the re-release of newly published paddle geocaches along Elkhorn Creek in the Great Crossing area. This will be listed as a separate geocaching event. You don't have to have a kayak or canoe to participate in the flash mob, but the geocaches will be located on the water.

Please note that dogs must be well-behaved and leashed at all times. If they are not under control they will be asked to leave.
