It's okay to pull off on the shoulder at the end of the frontage road (basically a dead end) as close as possible to the cache long enough to find it - and that shouldn't be long. Just don't leave your vehicle there for a couple of hours if you decide to abandon caching to visit the nearby public fishing area and tempt some trout.
Never attempt caches by parking on the shoulder of a freeway (dangerous and illegal) -- I knew you all wouldn't do that but had to say it anyway.
