Sharlot Hall is a member of Arizona's Women Hall of Fame. Sharlot moved to the Arizona Territory at the age of 12 in 1882. While schooling in Prescott she met Henry Fleury, who had come to Prescott in 1864 as secretary to the first governor, John Goodwin. With Henry's help, Sharlot began learning the history of the young territory, and eventually was appointed Territorial Historian in 1909. Sharlot remained active in politics for years. In 1927 she agreed to move her extensive collection of artifacts and collections to the Old Governor's Mansion, now the site of the Sharlot Hall Museum. Sharlot lived until 1943, at which time a historical society was formed to continue her work. This society continues to operate the museum today.
The Sharlot Hall Museum is the largest museum in the central territory of Arizona, and is dedicated to providing educational adventures in human and natural history.
