Cape St. Claire Park, home to Graul's Field, is the only
county-owned park in the community. As such, it's really the only
public park, since all other parks are owned and operated for the
benefit of residents only.
On this land once stood Ms. Jenny Stinchcomb's farm. The
Stinchcomb's owned a fair chunk of what is now Cape St. Claire back
in the late 1800's to early 1900s. The field is named for Harold F.
Graul--the original owner and operator of Graul's. The Cape St.
Claire Grauls was one of the original stores owned by the family.
The family has a long history of supporting the community and its
sports teams. A tradition that continues to this day.
Graul's Field is often packed with kids playing sports and their
families cheering them on. On the night I placed the cache, 3
seperate pee-wee football teams were practicing here. However, the
cache is hidden out of the view of prying eyes and can be found
with minimal stealth required.
Cache is located in a grove of trees behind the ball fields. The
woods and trails are more extensive than you might think being in
the middle of a well-developed community.
You're looking for a 6x9 lock&lock container. There's an
unactivated World Traveler geocoin for the First to Find, a
logbook, a pirate flag, a couple of first aid kits, a few MAGC
pathtags, and some foreign coins/money I've picked up in my
travels.
This cache was approved by Anne Arundel County Parks and
Recreation.
Congratulations to jray8 on the FTF!
