Geocache Description:

This is a hide a key, located at a Truck Stop that has a burger joint inside.

One of the nearby establishments offers classroom teachers grants for hands-on activities. Well, immediately, geocaching came to mind as a great hands-on activity to do with my students. Using technology, teaching longitude and latitude, all those geographic principles and directional skills, how much more educational and practical do you need? I started off the grant giving the coordinates of one of their establishments in Pendleton, and stating that most people would think I was talking secret code, but my students would immediately recognize the coordinates to a location in Pendleton, Kentucky. That opening sentence helped me to get the grant and now we are the proud owners of several GPS units and a group of eager students to go geocaching with. I decided to place a cache in Pendleton, as it is a great place to stop when traveling on 71 to get a bite to eat, fill up your car and stretch your legs and grab a cache.
