Please be sure to cover the cache as well or better than you found it so that it won't get muggled again! Thanks! Now on to the cache....
From this cache you will have an unobstructed view of Scotts Valley. This particular hill (known by locals as Cupcake Hill) has been a recognizable landmark in Scotts Valley for as long as I can remember. It used to be very visible from Hwy 17, but with the recent developments in Scotts Valley, it is harder to see. Take this chance to see it up close and personal......
Some Notes on the actual Cache:
- There is a Geocache patch for the FTF.
- Many people visit this location, so please hide the container as well or better than you found it.
- On the day of placement, I was able to get digital lock on 9 birds and had an EPE of 9 ft with my Garmin Vista E-Trex.
- Container is green ammo box.
- You will not be able to park real close to the cache, so plan on hiking a short distance and definitely plan on a very steep final climb.
- The hill could be very difficult if it is wet. You will *not* need to stray far from the trail or hop any fences. There is some poison oak, but it is easy to avoid by staying on the trail.
Update May 31, 2004. Thanks to "zenone" for posting a very good DNF. Their description of what they found let me know that it was definitely missing. I went out this afternoon to replace the cache... the same day zenone could not find it.
Also, a note about access: Summer is a great time to go after this one since school is not in session. You CAN get to this one during the school year, either by going after hours or by finding alternate access.
