Why 11-11-11?
The date 11-11-11 is Palindromic i.e. it remains the
same whether read forwards or backwards.
Some might prefer to say this is an example of a Same Number
Date i.e. the day, month and year are all represented by the
same number: 11-11-11.
Although palindromic numbers are most often considered in the
decimal system, the concept of palindromicity can be applied to the
natural numbers in any numeral system. Consider a number n >
0 in base b = 2, where it is written in standard
notation with k+1 digits ai as:
with 0 = ai < b for all i and ak
<> 0. Then n is palindromic if and only if
ai = ak-i for all i. Zero is written 0 in any
base and is also palindromic by definition.
When:
On 11-11-11 of course! Meet at 6.30pm.
What:
A family friendly social gathering, BYO takeaway picnic dinner.
Come and swap your tall tales about the one that got away, or
compare notes about those fiendishly difficult puzzles, or just
come to put a face to those names you've seen in the log books.
Where:
Willowbank Park, Tawa. A large grassy area with a children's
play park, and of course a few local caches within easy strolling
distance. It's adjacent to the Takapu Rd railway station, which has
plenty of parking. Hopefully the snow currently lying in Willowbank
Park will have cleared by November.
Updates:
As this event is still some way off yet, details will be updated
as they evolve. Log your intention to attend, and you will
automatically be informed of updates. If the snow hasn't cleared,
or rain looks likely, details of an alternative venue will be
posted closer to the time - but it will almost be Summer, so the
weather will be great - right?

HOW TO ORDER 11-11-11 WORLDWIDE MULTI-EVENT GEOCOINS
The actual number of coins available has not been confirmed yet,
but I have had a number of enquiries from people keen to order one.
To avoid a last minute scramble for coins, I will start accepting
"pre-order requests" for coins now.
Email me (via my profile page) if you are interested in
purchasing a 11-11-11 Worldwide Multi-Event Geocoin. The cost is
likely to be approximately $15 (to be confirmed). Coins will be
allocated on a "first in - first served" basis, only one per
caching name initially, you must have already placed a "will
attend" log for the event. Please note that it is highly likely
that there will not be enough coins to go around, so you must
collect your coin at the event, otherwise it will be reallocated to
the next attendee on the pre-order list.

EVEN MORE 11-11-11 WORLDWIDE MULTI-EVENT GEOCOINS!
I now have some 11-11-11 Worldwide Multi-Event (Otago) Geocoins
available to attendees of this event. The quantity of these Otago
coins available to us is not so limited, so I will now start taking
pre-orders for these. The cost is expected to be $15 per coin (to
be confirmed closer to the event).
Email me (via my profile page) if you are interested in
purchasing a 11-11-11 Worldwide Multi-Event (Otago) Geocoin. Coins
will be allocated on a "first in - first served" basis, multiple
coins per caching name will be allowed. However, in the event that
there are more orders than coins, large orders may be trimmed back
to allow more people to grab a coin. You must attend the event to
collect your coin(s), otherwise they will be reallocated to the
next person on the pre-order list. These geocoins are highly
collectable and the Otago edition is a limited minting of 75 coins
only.
Many thanks to Guwapo for kindly agreeing to make some of these
coins available to Wellington event attendees.
