Geological dislocation near the Ruins of Fort Landeck

The Schwarzwald and the Vosges Mountains are elevating slowly, the
upper Rhinevalley is sinking. Upper Rhinevalley is a riftvalley! At
it’s Borders many broken parts sank down to different depth.
You can’t see often the rifts between the different parts,
because they are almost covered with soil. Here near Landeck you
can see a dislocation called “Landecker Verwerfung”
with a height of about 160 Meters differenz. At the dislocation,
only a few meters from the limestone-quarry you can see the
different colours of the soil and small stones, on the right side
the red sandstone “Oberer Buntsandstein”, on the left
side the yellow colour of the mussel-limestone “Oberer
Muschelkalk”. The sort of Oberer Muschelkalk from the left
side would be 160 Meters above the Buntsandstein on the right side,
but erosion has washed it into the valley long ago. Below the
limestone-quarry, the same sandstone like on the left side is below
the level of the Elz! The hight of the great Schwarzwald –
dislocation is more then 500 meters!
Now about the cache!
The first part is at the ruins of Landeck Castle: The castle is
buidt with yellow limestone (Oberer Muschelkalk) and red sandstone
is used for window- an doorframes (Oberer Buntsandstein) .
At N 48° 08.982 E 7° 50.410 (Parking) you find an
informationboard!
- 1. What are the years, when the whole castle was buildt the
first time (new theory in the middle of the Informationboard)
?
- 2.The type of stone of the rocks, on which the upper castle was
buildt (walk around the upper castle, yellow limestone or red
Sandstone?)
The second part is near the dislocation at N 48° 09.114 E 7°
50.365 (Parking only for two cars)
- 3. Near the seventh pillar of the guardrail you see a piece or
rock. Is it Buntsandstein or Muschelkalk?
- 4. How many years is the difference between the ages of the
different stone types approxmately?(You don't find the information
in Landeck, you have to look in the Internet or an
encyclopedia!)

Geologische Verwerfung nahe der Ruine Landeck
Deutsch
Schwarzwald und Vogesen heben sich langsam, das Oberheintal sinkt
immer Tiefer ein. Das Oberrheintal ist ein Grabenbruch, an dessen
Rändern eine Vielzahl von Schollen nur teilweise und
unterschiedlich tief in den Graben eingesunken sind. Die Brüche,
Verwerfungen genannt, an denen sich die Schollen verschieben sind
selten zu sehen, da sie meist mit Erde bedeckt sind und die
Errossion ständig die Spuren beseitgt. Hier bei Landeck sieht man
eine Verwerfung mit ca. 160 Metern Sprunghöhe unspektakulär aber
deutlich an der Verfärbung der Bodens und den Gesteinsbrocken.
Links der gelblich verwitternde Muschelkalk, rechts der rot
gefärbte ebenfalls stark verwitterte Buntsandstein.
Die Sprunghöhe ist der Höhenunterschied, den identische
Gesteinsschichten in benachbarten Schollen haben.
An der Landecker Verwerfung stoßen wenige Meter neben dem
Muschelkalksteinbruch Oberer Muschelkalk und Oberer Buntsandstein
aneinander. Die selben Muschelkalkschichten würden rechts der
Verwerfung ca. 160 Meter höher über dem Oberen Buntsandstein
liegen, sind aber schon lange Opfer der Errosion geworden.
Entsprechend liegen die Sandsteinschichten unter dem
Muschelkalksteinbruch tief unter der Schottereben der Elz! Die
Sprunghöhe der Schwarzwaldhauptverwerfung hat über 500 Meter!
Nun zum Cache
Erster Teil ist die Burgruine: Die Burg ist aus gelbem/grauem
Muschelkalk gebaut, die Fenster- und Türrahmen sind aus Rotem
Buntsandstein.
Bei N 48° 08.982 E 7° 50.410 (Parkplatz) ist ein Schild mit
Informationen.
- 1. In welchem Zeitraum entstand die erste Gesamtanlage der Burg
(nach neuerer Ansicht! siehe Informationstafel) ?
- 2.Auf welches Gestein ist die Burg gebaut? (Gehe um die Obere
Burg herum, Muschelkalk oder Buntsandstein?)
Der zweite Teil ist bei der Verwerfung: N 48° 09.114 E 7°
50.365 (Parkplatz für nur zwei Autos!)
- 3. Neben dem siebten Pfosten der Leitplanke ist ein stück Fels
zu sehen, Buntsandstein oder Muschelkalk?
- 4. Wieviele Jahre ist der ungefähre Altersunterschied der
beiden Gesteine? (Du findest keinen Hinweis, schau im Internet oder
Lexikon)
