Geocache Description:

This location is on a demolished railway station site which formed the second stop on the Cowes to Newport line. It was built in 1862 and closed in 1966. Unlike many Island railway stations Mill Hill was busy at the beginning and end of each working day, depositing and picking up hundreds of workmen from shipyards.

The station building is no longer present, and the trackbed filled in. Part of the sweep of the platform edge is still visible in the small park that occupies some of the station site. New housing has been built on the southern part of the station site. The tunnel is extant and used by a gun club.

The cache is a small tupperware container with enough space for log book and goodies. The cache is hidden under vegetation, and care should be taken to avoid being detected.
