La Roggia dei Mulini del paese di Lozzo di Cadore presenta le testimonianze di un passato in cui l’acqua veniva sfruttata come forza motrice nelle lavorazioni del grano, della lana, del ferro e del legname. Gli opifici a forza idraulica presenti lungo il Rio Rin sono uno dei migliori esempi di archeologia industriale del Cadore e la recente ricostruzione della roggia in legno e della ruota di uno dei mulini permette di comprendere più approfonditamente il valore storico del luogo e di ammirarne la sua bellezza. Nel XX secolo, infatti, questa località costituiva il centro produttivo di Lozzo, ove si svolgevano tutte le attività artigianali tra cui la lavorazione del legno, della lana e dei tessuti, ma anche l’attività fabbrile e più tardi la produzione degli occhiali.
Gli opifici, destinati alle varie attività artigiane, necessitavano dell’acqua per il loro funzionamento, e vennero così sapientemente edificati lungo il corso del Rio Rin, in modo da poter sfruttare l’energia ottenuta dall’impianto idraulico. Alcuni documenti testimoniano la presenza di ben 10 ruote da mulino, una sega da falegname, un follo da panni di lana e 16 telari da tela, un vero e proprio villaggio di strutture dedicate all’attività preindustriale.
Attualmente, percorrendo un curato sentiero di facile accesso lungo la roggia, si possono ancora osservare un'officina fabbrile e tre mulini di cui uno completamente funzionante: il Mulino del Favero, utilizzato per la tessitura, il Mulino de Pra Calligaro, un tempo fucina e in seguito convertito in mulino, e il Mulino dei Pinza.
In località Le Spesse vi era inoltre una diga e il percorso della Roggia dei Mulini prevede anche l’interessante visita alla centralina idroelettrica “Baldovin Carulli”, attiva dai primi del ’900: fino agli anni novanta ha fornito energia elettrica a una buona parte della borgata antica di Lozzo, mentre oggi serve circa 200 utenti.

The Roggia dei Mulini of the town of Lozzo di Cadore presents the testimonies of a past in which water was used as a driving force in the processing of wheat, wool, iron and timber. The hydraulic mills present along the Rio Rin are one of the best examples of industrial archeology in Cadore and the recent reconstruction of the wooden irrigation ditch and the wheel of one of the mills allows us to better understand the historical value of the place and to admire its beauty. In the twentieth century, in fact, this locality constituted the productive center of Lozzo, where all the artisan activities were carried out including the working of wood, wool and fabrics, but also the factory activity and later the production of glasses.
The factories, destined to the various artisan activities, needed water for their operation, and were so wisely built along the course of the Rio Rin, so as to be able to exploit the energy obtained from the hydraulic system. Some documents testify the presence of 10 mill wheels, a carpenter's saw, and 16 lorms, a veritable village of structures dedicated to pre-industrial activity.
Currently, along a well-groomed path that is easy to access along the stream, you can still see a factory workshop and three mills, one of which is fully functional: the Mulino del Favero, used for weaving, the Mulino de Pra Calligaro, once a forge and later converted into a mill, and the Mill of Pinza.
In Le Spesse there was also a dam and the path of the Roggia dei Mulini also includes an interesting visit to the “Baldovin Carulli” hydroelectric power station, active since the early 1900s: until the 1990s it supplied electricity to a large part of the ancient village of Lozzo, while today it serves about 200 users.

Die Roggia dei Mulini im Dorf Lozzo di Cadore zeugt von einer Vergangenheit, in der Wasser als treibende Kraft bei der Verarbeitung von Weizen, Wolle, Eisen und Holz eingesetzt wurde. Die Wasserkraftwerke entlang des Rio Rin sind eines der besten Beispiele für Industriearchäologie im Cadore-Gebiet, und die jüngste Rekonstruktion des hölzernen Bewässerungsgrabens und des Rads einer der Mühlen ermöglicht es, den historischen Wert des Ortes besser zu verstehen und seine Schönheit zu bewundern. Im 20. Jahrhundert war dieser Ort nämlich das Produktionszentrum von Lozzo, wo alle handwerklichen Tätigkeiten stattfanden, einschließlich der Holz-, Woll- und Stoffverarbeitung, aber auch die Herstellung und später die Produktion von Gläsern.
Die Fabriken, die für die verschiedenen handwerklichen Tätigkeiten bestimmt waren, benötigten für ihren Betrieb Wasser und wurden daher geschickt entlang des Rio Rin gebaut, damit sie die aus dem hydraulischen System gewonnene Energie nutzen konnten. Einige Dokumente bezeugen die Anwesenheit von bis zu 10 Mühlrädern, einer Zimmermannssäge, einem Wolltuch und 16 Tuchtüchern, ein wahres Dorf mit Strukturen, die der vorindustriellen Tätigkeit gewidmet waren.
Wenn man heute auf einem gepflegten und leicht zugänglichen Weg entlang des Bewässerungsgrabens geht, kann man noch eine Fabrikhalle und drei Mühlen besichtigen, von denen eine voll funktionsfähig ist: die Mühle von Favero, die für die Weberei genutzt wurde, die Mühle von Pra Calligaro, einst eine Schmiede und später in eine Mühle umgewandelt, und die Mühle von Pinza.
In der Ortschaft Le Spesse befand sich auch ein Staudamm, und die Route der Roggia dei Mulini umfasst auch einen interessanten Besuch des Wasserkraftwerks "Baldovin Carulli", das seit Anfang der 1900er Jahre in Betrieb ist: bis in die 1990er Jahre versorgte es einen großen Teil des alten Dorfes Lozzo mit Strom, während es heute etwa 200 Nutzer versorgt.
