Geocache Description:

This should have been an Onioshidashi Volcanic Park cache, but it was closed when we went there.

Therefore we visited a place near the Park and were surprised to find a large sign called "Asama Cycling Road". This sounded like a great idea for a cache. But... there was too much snow for multiple caches. So... this might be the starting one for others to place more on the cycling road.

Mount Asama itself is an active volcano which had his last big eruption 1743. This eruption had a large lava stream coming down. The remains can be seen in Onioshidashi Volcanic Park.

The most recent sign of Mount Asama was on February 1st where the Japan's Meteorological Agency was warning for an eruption that really happened on Feburary 2nd/3rd 2009.

We could see on March 3rd smoke coming from Mt Asama.

Hiding a cache during winter is not easy. I hope I placed it on the ground and hid it well (no snow under it anymore). If not, please hide it better at the given spot.

Cache has no pen, please bring one.
