This beautiful tree, known to us, as the lonely tree, had caught our attention since we moved to the area. We cannot drive past it without, a quick glance and nod to this majestic old guy. As you look to your left, down the hill, you are looking towards the village of Moira. Moira is home to a 19th century iron making blast furnace. The furnace and the nearby lime kilns are preserved on the banks of the Ashby-de-la-Zouch canal. The site was acquired by the council in 1991 and developed into a museum and country park. To reach number 4 carry straight on through these fields keeping the road on your left, before crossing a stile onto a lane.
